Hatton Garden Metals is equipped with full on-site melt facilities allowing us to melt and process large volumes of gold, silver, platinum and palladium swiftly and efficiently.
Our Master smelters possess over 10 years of experience melting gold and are amongst the best in the industry.
Our melting process starts when precious metal scrap gold is bought at our trade counter or is sent in the post. The gold metal is then prepared and cleaned for the melt pots by removing stones, bangle wires and any other non-precious metal jewellery components. The gold then is poured into our specialised furnaces which heats up to 1500 degrees.
Once the gold is molten, our smelter will then take a pin sample with glass vacuum tubes designed especially for this procedure.
Your melt bar will then be poured into a mould and XFR analysed (x-rayed in simpler terms).
Once cooled down, we carry out an 8-point average assay on the gold bar providing quality control to both us and our customers to obtain the most accurate results.
One of the most important skills when melting gold is producing a homogeneous bar every time, no matter whether the bar is 100g or 7500g.
Our in-house team will ensure that all melts are carried out with strict quality control procedures and CCTV allowing our customers to rest assured that their melt is being handled securely and transparently.
We welcome our trade customers to come and watch their items being melted.
